    Fabulous

I liked the location of this Hotel. The room although small was extremely comfortable and of good quality. They got all the small details down i.e the slippers and gowns, the replenishing of all items such as toiletries, tea and coffee etc. Nice pleasent stay.

Cocktail bar was the reception, no lifts so not good if you were on the top floor, everything gets wet in the wet room i.e the toilet, toilet rolls etc. Slightly over-rated.

    Superb

Room was very comfortable although a bit small. The breakfast was great and good value. Overall an excellent stay!

It might be worth paying more for a seaview room as our room looked over the backs of neighbouring buildings.

    Good

Good quality hotel in a great city with good access to facilities in Brighton (e.g. The Lanes, Brighton Centre). Excellent albeit expensive restaurent.

    1. Paying £12 per night to park having paid £175 per night for a room. 2. Paying a similar sum for breakfast. 3. being asked to par for accommodation up front rather on check-out. 4. Layout of room very poor with little space and a hopeless configured dressing table (no mirror within reasonable reach)

    Very good

The location was great, although not obvious to find along the seafront, as the sinage was very discreet. Staff were very kind and more than helpful. We stayed in a Bijou room, interior wise, spot on.. however the exterior (i.e. view from the window was non exsistant.) This should have been mentioned at the point of booking via 'Booked.net'. over all though, a pleasent hotel.

I did not like the fact that the view from the room was practically non-exsistant (a concrete void which housed a flock of pigeons!) I have taken this matter up with the hotel directly, who have dealt with my discrepancy & have been more than helpful & proffesional.

    Fabulous

The staff were very helpful and the place was spotless.

I thought the restaurant was not living up to expectations and price. I also did not like that after the meal when presented with the bill a service charge eas added at 12.5% which was not clear before hand and ultimately thought it was very overpriced for the quality offered.

the atmosphere of the hotel is relaxing, the staff are extremely friendly. my fiance and i enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back there again!

the fact that u can hear people walking in the corridor and on the floor above, from the sweaking of the wooden floors :S

    Superb

This small boutique hotel has a modern style to it. The staff were very approachable and friendly. In room facilities were good including the bath tub sitting in the bay window. There was an ipod dock and enough hanging space for clothes for the weekend. I is located within easy reach of the beach and the shops in the Lanes. The downstairs restaurant is highly recommended for that special occasion night out.

    Very good

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the free standing bath in the room.

I found the room a little costrophobic and as we were staying in the town view room it wasn't that nice having our window open. I would definitely advice spending more on a sea view room!! Also we found the wet room (bathroom) and toilet too small and uncomfortable.

Even before our arrival at Drakes we were made to feel that our visit was imporatant to the hotel and that they would do anything that they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. On arrival, the reception was warm and efficient. Our room was very well designed with modern features which nevertheless were in perfect harmony with the Regency building. We sampled the full breakfast and bar sandwiches, both of which were excellent. We would very much like to visit Drakes as soon as we can!

The hotel was beautifully designed, romantic and yet classy. The staff were exceptional, the room was lovely and well equipped. The room had an air of romance and sexiness, the bathroom was stylish and the bath big enough for two. The bathrobes and gift wrapped toiletries a lovely touch.

The only downside was the sound proofing. We had an early night and could hear everyone passing on the stairs and moving around in the room above.

    Superb

The hotel staff, location, and view from this room are amazing. It is right in front of a Volk's electric railway station which goes down to the marina. The Lanes section of town was a short walk away (about 10 minutes). We got the last of the 10 parking spots owned by the hotel, which was key. It made the Brighton experience a lot less stressful, so try to get there early to check-in since parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cool thing is that you are assigned a particular space that no one else is allowed to use while you are there. Because of this, your spot will be waiting for you if you take your car out during your stay.

The biggest negative for us was the fact that none of the rooms have American- style showers. They are all European shower rooms in which the showerhead and drain are in the middle of the tiny bathroom so when you shower, the toilet and sink get drenched. Another potential issue is that the bed is built into a tight space where there is only 8 inches of space on either side, which could be an issue for someone who doesn't have perfect mobility. That didn't bother us too much, though.
